Dae geum was made in order to hope for peace 

during the time of King Sinmun of Shilla Dynasty. 

Dae geum is made by many processes such as 

removing the resin out of the bamboo tree, drying,

attaching the white membrane from the reed,

and drilling holes onto the bamboo. 

Dae geum which is made through such long and precise 

processes contains a meaning that is more than just 

a musical instrument. 

The breath with soul, passing through Dae geum, 

touches nature and hearts of people. 

Having a soft and dignified sound when low, and having 

an animated sound when high, Dae geum is the sound of 

a king that sets the central sound of every musical instrument. 

The resonance of Dae geum which has been passed down 

for ages will subtly yet massively convey a message of peace.
