The Jongno 3-ga district of Seoul is ranked third on a list of the world's "coolest" neighborhoods.

The British culture and entertainment website Time Out on Oct. 6 announced its list of "the world's coolest neighbourhoods right now," placing Norrebro in Copenhagen, Denmark, at No. 1, Andersonville, Chicago, second and Jongno 3-ga third.

The poll was based on a survey of more than 27,000 urban dwellers and regional experts around the world.

Time Out called Jongno 3-ga "historic and accentric" and the "heart and soul of Seoul."

The site described the district as having "palaces, galleries and other tourist spots" with images of old men "huddled around baduk (the game Go) boards." It also recommended Jongno 3-ga's "cart vendors selling traditional toffee," jewelry shops, restaurants that serve North Korean food and "hidden cafes and beer houses."

"It's also home to Seoul's LGBTQ+ district, which is vibrant and bustling."

As for world No. 1 Norrebro, Time Out called it "where history meets ultramodern architecture" in a city "proudly known for its food and drink scene."

On Andersonville, it said the Chicago neighborhood "is now best known for its LGBTQ+ nightlife" and is more charming with new bars and restaurants and proximity to the beach.
