The 2011 Seoul Lantern Festival will illuminate Cheonggyecheon and the surrounding cityscape for 17 days, lasting until Sunday, November 20. Over 3,000 lanterns float over the 1.3km area that has been marked off for the festival. Based on the theme of "Stories of Seoul's Past," six exhibits using a total of 30,000 lanterns and lit figurines will display the 600-year history of Seoul. Visitors can see scenes from everyday life in the Joseon Dynasty, including musicians with traditional instruments, soldiers on horses, and villagers engaged in joyous dances. The festivities will run every night from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Directions and additional information can be found at www.seoul.go.kr (Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese) (Photo: Yonhap News).
