For the first time, Korean beef is exported to Hong Kong. Negotiations on hygiene and quarantine requirements for Korean beef were settled on Nov. 19, opening trade into the Hong Kong market.

Korean beef is now being exported to Hong Kong.

To celebrate the first export of Korean beef, an event was held on Dec. 23 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong.

Memorandums of Understanding were signed at the event between Korean export and Hong Kong import companies.

A representative from a Hong Kong distribution company stated that the event provided an opportunity for him to confirm the quality of the beef and to begin to develop confidence in the agreement.

Last month, on Nov. 19, a formal trade agreement on the export of Korean beef to Hong Kong was finalized after negotiations on hygiene and quarantine requirements were agreed upon by both the Korean and Hong Kong governments.
