Lotte Hotel World in southern Seoul is host to a conference that focuses on the joint Korea-China production of source material for movies, TV shows, video games and other media platforms on Dec. 16.

Three story outlines that won a contest jointly-organized by Korean and Chinese media outlets will soon be made into a movie, a cartoon and a documentary.

On Dec. 16, a conference on the Korea-China joint creation of media source material was held in southern Seoul. Participating organizations discussed how to develop quality Korean and Chinese "stories," or source material, that can then be developed into movies, TV shows, video games and other online media. During the conference, Korean and Chinese media firms and investment companies signed joint production agreements and investment contracts covering the three projects.

The three joint projects are a cartoon called "King Panda Who Climbs Over a Fence and Launches Into Space," a feature film "Extreme Jobs" and a documentary called "The Match Has Already Started."

First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Min-gwon delivers his speech during the Korea-China media conference on Dec. 16.

"These joint projects, on which Korea and China have collaborated from the early stages of development, will eventually contribute to the mutual growth of the creative power in both countries, and to our market expansion across the world," said First Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Min-gwon.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency held a contest in July to develop source material for movies, TV shows, animated films and cartoons, video games and other online media, together with the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China (国家新闻出版广电总局) and the Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation (江苏广播电视总台). Twenty stories -- 12 Korean and 8 Chinese -- made it through to the final stages of the contest.
