French President François Hollande will pay a state visit to Korea next month.

Cheong Wa Dae announced on Oct. 6 that the French leader will visit Korea for two days starting Nov. 3 to have summit talks with President Park Geun-hye.

This will be the first state visit by a French leader since former French President Jacques Chirac paid a state visit to Korea in 2000. It will also be the first visit to Korea by President Hollande since he took office.

During the upcoming meetings, the two leaders will discuss measures to boost cooperation in various sectors, including politics, business, trade, the creative economy, culture, the arts, science and technology. Both leaders will also exchange views on a wide range of issues that include regional and global affairs, including issues involving the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia, and responses to climate change.

Cheong Wa Dae said, “President Hollande’s state visit to Korea will highlight the meaning of the 'Years 2015-2016 of Korea-France Bilateral Exchanges' that mark the 130th anniversary of the establishment of the Seoul-Paris diplomatic relationship. The visit will further advance our bilateral comprehensive partnership for the 21st century in a future-looking manner.”

The two leaders last held summit meetings in Milan, Italy, during the Asia Europe Summit (ASEM) last year, and in Paris in 2013 when President Park made an official visit to France.
