Marvel’s hit blockbuster sequel, ”Avengers: Age of Ultron,” will shoot on location in Seoul.
The
Korea Film Council, the Korea Tourism Organization, the Seoul Film
Commission, the Gyeonggi Film Commission and the Gohyang Industry
Promotion Agency together signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)
with Marvel Studios regarding the filming of “Avengers 2” in Korea. The
MOU encompasses inter-organizational cooperation, assistance for filming
and incentives to foreign film companies to shoot in Korea. The MOU
will also cover some of Marvel Studios’ promotional efforts.

“It’s Korea’s cutting-edge technology, breath-taking
landscape and unique architecture that makes it an ideal place for
Marvel and for “Avengers: Age of Ultron," said Mitchell Bell, vice
president of physical production at Marvel Studios. He also added that
if word got out about how charming a place Korea is, and how cooperative
its people are, other world renowned blockbuster film productions would
probably rank Korea as one of the best locations in which to make
movies. Lastly, he thanked the many organizations, citizens and local
residents for all their support and cooperation, and finished with a
promise. “I promise we will make an amazing movie of which all of you
will feel proud.”

Starting on March 30 and running to
April 14, shooting locations include the Mapo Bridge, Saebit
Dungdungseom Island, the Sangam-dong Digital Media City, the Cheongdam
Bridge, the main Gangnam boulevard in Seoul and roads near Kaywon
University of Art & Design in Gyeoggi-do. Road traffic in these
areas will be completely closed down. The National Police Agency, the
Seoul Metropolitan Government and related organizations will have local
buses temporarily re-routed to ensure a minimum of road congestion.
During the first shoot on Sunday March 30, there will be restricted
access to the Mapo Bridge and some 63 bus routes will be detoured. Over
285 staff, including extra police officers, will be on call to help
improve traffic conditions.
