"Connect, BTS," a global art project expressing the K-pop boy group's philosophy and messages through contemporary art, opened on Jan. 28 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.

The project's global tour covers five cities: London (Jan. 14-March 15); Berlin (Jan. 15-Feb. 2) Buenos Aires, Argentina (Jan. 21-March 22); Seoul (Jan. 28-March 20); and New York (Feb. 5-March 27). Twenty-two contemporary artists from home and abroad have taken part, and each city will present different artworks.

The exhibition at DDP is displaying an installation work by the Belgium-based British artist Ann Veronica Janssens titled "Green, Yellow and Pink" and a projection mapping-based digital piece by Korea's Kang Yiyun titled "Beyond The Scene."

Kang's video has a running time of 9:30 minutes and presents the silhouettes of seven performers on screen behind a white fabric. Their movements are a reinterpretation of the favorite BTS choreography of Army, the group's fan club.

Kang on Jan. 28 told a news conference, "I wonder whether the numerous limits we face now are messages from BTS."

She also conveyed the meaning of the project by saying, "(BTS) connects everyone in going beyond race, nationality and age."

At the Seoul event, visitors can listen to recorded commentary by BTS members on the artworks.

Admission to the exhibition is free but reservations are required.

More information and reservations are available on the project's official website, which is in Korean, English, German and Spanish:
