On September 3, one of the Korean modern dance teams, Modern Table, performed “Darkness Poomba” and “Awake” at the Claudio Santoro National Theater in Brazil. More than 400 people came to see this performance and it was well-received by the audience.

This festival was part of Center Stage Korea in Latin America, a project run by the Korea Art Management Service and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Center Stage Korea in Latin America is an international exchange project where Korean modern dance teams and Korean traditional music ensembles perform in various countries in Central and South America to promote Korean culture.

This project promotes Korean traditional dance and music by putting on performances in various countries, and additionally supports a lot of Korean traditional dancers and musicians in various ways such as providing funds.

The Center Stage Korea in Latin America project will continue through October, as Modern Table and the Korean traditional music ensemble Baramgot will perform in Columbia and Mexico in September. In October there will be a Mexican-Korean modern dance festival held at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
