The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Indonesia and the Jakarta Arts Institute (Institut Kesenian Jakarta) (IKJ) have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on the fine arts and cultural events, in Jakarta on May 2. Under the agreement, the two sides intend to promote human exchanges, to jointly run academic and arts education programs and to jointly manage key arts festivals and exchange programs in the latter half of this year.

As part of the "2014 Korea-Indonesia International Exchange Matching: Supporting Global Labor Force Project" campaign, organized by the KCC and the Korea Arts Management Service, the IKJ decided to dispatch two professors to universities in Korea. They will arrive this month and visit China Town and the Art Platform in Incheon, as well as the Heiri culture and arts village in Paju, Gyeonggi-do (Gyeonggi Province), in order to study urban renewal, the development of cultural complexes and to apply their observations to related research.

Many school officials, including IKJ President Wagiono Sunarto, attended the MOU-signing ceremony and expressed high hopes for and great interest in the event. Previously, the two sides carried out similar joint projects, including a ceramics exhibition and a film industry seminar last year.
